In the year of 2312, a disease came into America from a foreign country. The disease was immune to animals of every kind. By 2325, it had wiped out all of North America and the sickness had traveled to Australia and South America. Country by country, continent by continent the disease had cleared each of every human.
In 2364, no humans were left on planet earth. The animals started living the life that they were before humans were created, living wild with no one to hunt them or interfere with their environment. Animals of all kinds, everywhere you look.

Hidden Dangers {Open} « Thread Started on Feb 22, 2009, 2:52pm »
Syla padded her way across the hot ground. It was mid afternoon and the heat was getting to her, she sighed and looked around for some decent shade. Her little golden brown eyes inspected the area around her and her attention was suddenly caught by something she’d never seen before. “What the heck is that?” she had developed a habit of talking to herself sense she’d been alone for a nearly two months now. What she had seen was an old jeep that had been sitting abandoned for quite some time now. Sy had never seen anything like it in her life, it was exciting. She had yet to learn to keep away from things if she didn’t know what they were and went bounding over to it. She sniffed around the wheels a little then jumped up into the front seat. The seat was falling apart and full of holes, she caught the smell of mice. For some time now she had been sustaining herself off rodents and insects, she quickly went to work ripping the fabric off the seat to expose the fluff inside. Three mice darted out, the lion cub pounced and managed to capture one under her big feet. After making a meal of the first one Syla began searching the jeep for the other two, in hopes that they might still be somewhere in the strange contraption. After a few minutes she came to terms with the fact that she couldn’t find them and decided to continue to check out the discovery she had made. She climbed back onto the shredded seat and put her paws onto the dashboard. Then tried climbing onto the dash and jumping off onto the soft seat, this thing was fun. Now she decided to climb into the back, there was a wooden chest that was half open. Using her nose she pushed it off, the rotten wood gave way and the hole lid fell off and crashed against the metal floor. She looked inside, there wasn’t a lot inside. Just some kind of long, metal, tube thing “Boring….” She sighed. It was much cooler in the back of the jeep because of the fabric cover. She yawned and stretched, spreading her toes. Maybe this could be her new den, she thought to herself. It was nice and cool and she was pretty sure she would be safe from any rainstorms, plus the seats were full of mice she could eat. She curled up in the back with a smile, what a great idea she had!

It had been a fairly good day. After finding the jeep, the crow had gone off to look for the possible remains of a city near by. As it turned out, the wilderness spread out endlessly in all directions. There was not even a hint of a ruin in sight. For Persiana, it had still been a good day, though. She had found the car, a very big shiny thing. Usually she found nothing, especially in Africa. The only problem with her find was that she had no idea how she was ever going to carry it to her stash. She'd probably have to tear it apart somehow and carry it back in pieces. She was only a bird, though, she couldn't possible do that...Could she? Persiana made an arch in the sky as she turned around to go back to her original find. It was late afternoon, and it was time she got back. With her one blind eye, flying in the dark was never a very smart thing to do. The plains were a golden brown and in the distance they turned hazy as the sun met them. A dark green splotch in the sea of gold was obvious, and she was glad that no one had stolen it. It was a precious antique to her. A prize. Her relief, however, as she neared the vehicle, turned into outrage when she saw the lion cub stretched out in the back. "OUT!" her shriek of rage sounded clearly across the plains on that lazy afternoon. The caw was so loud the water buffaloes and gazelles lifted their heads to see what the commotion was. "THIS IS MINE! MINE! UNDERSTAND YOU LAZY CAT? GET OUT!" The crow winged around the car so she was closer. When she was about ten feet away, she flew upwards and tilted her body down. Tucking her wings in, Persiana let out a mad, raucous CAW! CAW! CAW!, dive bombing the small lion. She hit with an impact so hard her beak skimmed part of the skin on the cub's back. As soon as she had, she flapped her white wings and promptly landed on the top of the seat. She stared down at the intruder with one penetrating yellow eye, and one filmy grey one.

So far Sy’s sleep had been nice and quiet, that was until she heard some awful shrieking from above what she was now calling her new den. She opened her eyes, looking up at the angry bird. ‘Mine’ it screamed at her. “NO WAY YOU CARZY BIRD THIS IS MY DEN!” the cub yelled back. The bird then flew down towards her. Syla stood up and growled but then was dive bombed and felt a sharp beak make contact with her back. She roared, well she made a noise that she considered a roar. She hadn’t quite figured out how to roar like an adult yet. She swatted at the air but didn’t manage to hit the bird. She turned to see that the bird was now perched on the seat. The cub backed into the corner to avoid having her now sore back pecked at again, her ears laid flat against her head. “Stupid bird, Go away!” she hissed, she wasn’t very intimidating.
No way was she going to leave this thing, whatever it was. It belonged to her, she found it and some crazy bird wasn’t going to chase her off. The thought that this might actually belong to the bird didn’t cross her mind at all, she was too stubborn to take such things into consideration. There was now a small patch of blood on her speckled coat, nothing serious but it did sting. She ignored the pain on her back and stared at the intruder, waiting to hear what she would say.

Persiana continued to glower at the cub. There were really only two expressions a bird could truly pull off. Those expressions consisted of Good Mood expression and Bad Mood expression. There really isn't a noticeable change in features, it's just that crows seem to be gifted with some special aura that surpasses body language. Next time you see a crow, you'll know what I'm talking about. However, right now Persiana had on her face a most menacing aura surrounding her. She seemed to even be trying to show it facially, just so the cub wouldn't get confused. Crows were hard to read. She pointed her beak downwards and thingyed her head to the side so that she was staring with just one bright, beady, sickly yellow eye. "Your den?" The cackling laugh came out of her beak almost too quickly. The bird shook her head at the lion, making a soft stssk, stssk, stssk sound in the back of her throat. "Den!" she exclaimed suddenly and quite incredulously, "My shine! This is an ancient artifact that needs to be preserved! Not," she glanced with distaste at the front seat where the cub had ripped up the cushion, "Torn apart." Then an idea came to her head. It was a perfect one. This cub was obviously stubborn. To stubborn to see what was right before its eyes. The little lioness could help take the metal off the car. It was a marvelous idea bound to work! So, Persiana tried to talk to Sy again, but this time in a softer cawing voice. Why could crows never sound gentle? "Dear, Lion, this is not a den. You and I both know that. I actually happen to know a quite splendid den that would fit a big lion like you perfectly. If you help me, I'll tell you where this excellent den is." In the process of speaking, the jet black crow had managed to lean close to the lion's face. As soon as she finished speaking, though, her head immediately jerked back to it's original position.

Syla had no idea that this thing was of any importance. She didn’t really know what an artifact was but the crow seemed to think it was awfully special. She stopped growling and listened as Persiana spoke, in her crackly voice. She backed up a little more as the bird and her sharp beak got closer to her face. She was about to protest and tell the bird that this was indeed her den, besides what did birds know about dens anyway? They lived in trees! When the crow offered to show her where a better den was Syla decided against arguing, she also liked being told how big she was. She loved thinking she was a big tough lion, she couldn’t wait to grow up and hunt something bigger than mice. “Hmm…Okay… what do I have to do?” she asked as she moved away from the corner and sat, feeling more at ease now.
She turned and licked the little patch of blood off her back, normally she would hold a grudge forever but the prospect of a real den was too tempting to pass up. She looked at the bird again, they were such strange looking animals. She walked closer and put her paws up on the edge of the seat where she was perched so that they could be at eye level. She looked at the damage she had done to the seat earlier, ‘oh well’ she thought to herself.

"Now, there's a helpful lion!" the crow let out a sigh, which sounded more like a hiss. Again, crows seemed incapable of making nice, gentle sounds. Maybe that's why her kind were always depicted as tricky, vile, and evil. Well, some of these descriptions were true. However, this wasn't the point at the moment. "If this stays out very much longer it will get even more rusty than it already is. I have a place where I keep all my precious dazzling material." she explained, "My only problem with this is that it seems that I cannot carry this much in my talons and beak. Therefore I believe the only way to get it back is to take it apart," she paused a moment, distracted by something in the sky. It was more than a few seconds before she finally continued again, "I obviously cannot do this by myself. I need your help to get this in pieces and get it to where I want it." The crow hopped to the edge of the seat, spread her wings and leaped into the sky. She pushed her wings down, and started a slow circle around the car. From this new position, she spoke once again. "I will help as best as I can, but it will be mostly up to you. It is old, and it shouldn't be too hard, though. Of course, nothing would be hard to you, right?" the crow laughed. She had picked up on how to flatter Syla, "You're a strong lioness!" Persiana looked over the car, feeling immense pride at her good luck. Then something caught her eye. She wheeled around towards it, beginning another dive. She flew through the front drivers window, and out the passengers. A shiny, small, jingly thing was gripped tightly in black talons. "Seeing as you're going to help me, I will introduce myself. You may call me Persiana," she introduced herself, making a grand bow."And what may I call you?"

Maybe this bird wasn't as crazy as Syla had thought, she obviously knew a strong lioness when she saw one. Obviously Syla had a fairly big opinion of herself but it made fending for herself a less frightning experiance. The bird got suddenly distracted by something, Sy looked but didn't see a thing. She shrugged to herself and then waited for her new business partner to come back to the conversation. Her tail flicked back and forth as she listened to the crow talk. She could do this little job, no problem "Okay, I can do that!" she exclaimed. This couldn't have sounded better, not only was she going to get a real den out of this deal but she was also going to be allowed to break appart the jeep!
Once again the bird flew off through the window and then returned holding some strange little object in her claws. Syla could see that she was easily distracted but that was fine, being a cub Sy often had the same problem. The crow then bowed and introduced herself "Im Syla" she replied. Digging her claws into the seat she pulled herself up so that she was now standing ontop of it, wobbling a little because she had yet to master her cat like balance. "So what do you want me to get first Persiana?" she asked, looking around the vehicle.

((AH! I'M SO SORRY! =headdesk=))
"Yes! Let's start immediately!" The crow chirped, seeming very cheerful all of a sudden and much less menacing than she'd seemed before. Maybe she wasn't all that bad. Maybe. Persiana swooped down and landed on the ground. She hopped over to the front tire and examined it with a critical eye. "These must go." she snapped without even looking at Syla. "I suggest ripping them with your claws. Get to work!" She flew upwards and flew to the group of water buffaloes. So far away, the cub probably couldn't hear what the bird was saying. However, any typical animal who was watching could easily tell that she was trying to persuade them. Soon, it seemed it had been a success, and the great hoofed animals were thundering over to the jeep. About ten feet from the vehicle, Persiana flapped a white wing and they stopped. By herself, she winged her way to Syla. "I have gotten these most noble creatures," she glanced at the water buffaloes, who could hear them. They seemed happy with this reference to them, "To help us. They will ram this thing and bump into it to shake it up a little. This will make it easier for us to take apart."

Syla jumped down to ground level and went to work on the tires. This didn't seem at all like work, her claws sunk into the black rubber and she gnawed on it with her teeth despite the bad taste. The material was hard but she managed to pull the first tire appart within a few minuets. Looking up she noticed that the bird had flown off somwhere, she could hear her cawing in the distance but took little notice as she was currently pulling off the second tire. This one was slightly elevated off the ground and rather than having to shed it she pulled off the shiney metal hub cap, stting it aside for Persiana. Then was able to pull the tire clean off the metal rim in one piece. It bounced as it hit the ground, Syla watched as it rolled a few meters away before it fell over. She would have some fun playing with that later.
She heard Persia's voice along with the sound of thundering feet. She spun around to see the crow with a group of water buffalo. The cub growled, she'd been chased by waterbuffalo before. She looked at them wide eyed for a secod and then looked at Persiana again "I pulled off that shiney thing for you...." she said motioning towards the hub cap. She looked at the new help once more, deciding she wanted to keep her distance rather than be trampled "Alright....well....im going to go stand out of the way..." she said. She turned and padded her way over to the tire she had pulled off then carried it over to the shade of a tree. She looked back at the huge animals by the jeep, she couldn't wait to be big so she wouldn't have to be so careful about such things.
